A Pleasant Meeting with Seniors

At the Daugava Sports Hall in Jelgava, 60 of the country's best powerlifting masters from athletics clubs from different regions fought for the Latvian Cup in bench press for the third time. And for the third time, the Jelgava club Apollons strongmen won this award. We must commend the Jelgava club Fortūnas athlete Igors Semjonovs, who, in the category up to 82.5 kg, set a new national junior record by lifting a 160 kg bar. 

It was pleasant to meet again with the former Latvian record holder in weightlifting and shot put Artūrs Sliede. He was the best in the weight category up to 125 kg, pressing 115 kg . Let's add that Artūrs is 52 years old. But he was not the oldest participant in this competition. Super heavyweight from Ogre Valdemārs Šulcs is three years older. He also won, lifting 145 kg. This result is a new Latvian senior record. 

Roms Kapustevichs was recognized as the absolute champion, ahead of Igor Sempnov and Aleksandrs Radzevičs.

For women, the absolute champion title went to Zhanna Korostelova from Riga (up to 56 kg) - 55 kg
