The finals of the Spartakiad in weightlifting ended with the fights of the second heavyweight athletes. Among the participants were two  members of the 600 kg club - V. Aleksejevs and S. Batiševs. Latvia was represented by A. Sliede. Artūrs finished the clean and jerk with 187.5 kg. In the snatch, Sliede lifted 147.5, then 152.5. In the clean and jerk, A. Sliede's performance was 195 kg. In the second attempt, he reached 205 kg. The republic's record in the triathlon was improved by 2.5 kg - 545 kg. This result gives him fifth place.
