Candidates for the USSR weightlifting team visited the capital of Lebanon, Beirut. The team also included Latvian athlete Artūrs Sliede . During the demonstration, Artūrs achieved a new republican record in the snatch - 210 kg. In Beirut, gymnasts from the USSR national team also performed with demonstration performances.
