KIROVSKA «Dinamo» weightlifters competed with CSR strongmen. In the II heavyweight category, Artūrs Sliede set three new Latvian records: in the snatch - 142.5 kg, in the clean and jerk - 200 kg and in the clean and jerk - 485 kg. The previous records (140 kg, 180 kg and 482.5 kg, respectively) had belonged to Oļģerts Bergmanis since 1961.
