The TIN and sports association children's sports school competitions in winter conditions began with heated "fights" of representatives in the mandate commission. If at previous events there were always free places for individual participants, then this time (for the first time in the history of such competitions) all teams with approx. 300 participants had arrived. The duration of the competition was calculated for 8 hours! The sports base of the Institute of Physical Culture could not accommodate all those who wanted to compete, and many capable young athletes had to remain spectators. We can rejoice in such growth, but at the same time we must also think about how to organize competitions in the future so that technical possibilities do not stifle the healthy will to fight.
The competition was opened by the chairman of the presidium of the Latvian Athletics Federation, A. Bukmanis. The flag was raised by last year's winner, the representative of the Riga "Daugava" team, Arturs Sliede . The competition was conducted smoothly and in an organized manner under the leadership of the chief referee Vītols.
Although the aim of the competition was to test the participants' general physical fitness (in the form of triathlons), the main interest was still focused on the results in the special disciplines. It turned out that the representatives of the district sports schools were very well prepared.
