The Latvian and Lithuanian schoolchildren's friendly athletics competition in Vilnius ended with our team's 103:95 victory. This competition allowed us to assess the current balance of forces between the two teams and judge our prospects at the All-Union School Spartakiad. Lithuanian students have always been a tough nut to crack for all teams.

The course of the competition and the results showed that this time we have significantly improved our achievements in sprinting, long jumping, and hurdles, but the Lithuanians surpass us in throwing disciplines (for youth). It should be noted that this time our team started with a weakened squad, because Gailis, Korneevs, Fernats and Leshchinskis could not participate due to unsuccessful grades, and Žogots and Ozols were sick.

The Lithuanian team has promising athletes in the Plunge and Skapas-throwing disciplines and Paulaitis - in high jump. 

In the shot put, our representative Arturs Sliede beat Lithuanian Plungi by 2 cm with only the last attempt. ACHIEVING THE BEST ACHIEVEMENT OF THE REPUBLIC - 15.66 m . 

High jump Aivars Asais could not find the right run and was forced to settle for fourth place. After the Lithuanians managed to win only two of the 10 disciplines on the first day of the competition, the battles became significantly fiercer on the second day. Ērika Pira already thought that she had won the 300 m distance, when the first Lithuanian runner, Yemeljanova, passed her. On the uneven, snowy track of the «Dinamo» stadium, J. Knīsis also suffered a loss in the 500 m race. In the javelin and discus throws, our young women turned out to be better, but the young men were forced to lose. It should also be noted that in the discus throw, they had to use a 2 kg implement, because Vilnius could not find the 1.5 kg discus, which is now used in youth competitions. Overall, the competition was well organized.
