Yesterday, the finals of the Spartakiad in weightlifting ended with the second heavyweight bouts. Among the participants were two members of the "600 kg club" V. Alekseevs and S. Batishchevs. Latvia was represented by A. Sliede.

Arturs finished the clean and jerk with 187.5 kg, which placed him in fifth place. M. Nude (Estonia) and G. Rjabokons (Belarus) withdrew. Alekseevs acted according to the "old method". Get a score in the first attempt and later attack the world record. He cleans 210 kg, goes to 225 kg, but unsuccessfully. In the third attempt, the weight was fixed, and the new world record is 225.5 kg. Batishchev can only lift 202.5 kg.

In the snatch, A. Sliede lifts 147.5 kg, then also 152.5 kg. He almost "gives up" also 157.5 kg. After two exercises, he is fourth. Alekseevs lifts 165, 175 and also 180 kg. Soma K. Lahdeiranta's world record has been improved by 2 kg.

In the clean and jerk, A. Sliede's performance is 195 kg. In the second attempt, he goes to 205 kg. The republic's record in the triathlon has been improved by 2.5 kg - 545 kg . This result gives him 5th place individually and third - in the team standings. But Alekseevs? In the first attempt, he jerks 227.5 kg and already sets a new world record in the triathlon - 632.5 kg. He will not be satisfied with that. In the second attempt, 232.5 kg. When weighing the bar, its weight is 233 kg. But in the third, Alekseev demands 235 kg. A new world record in the clean and jerk - 235 kg and in the triathlon - 640 kg.
