Constitution Day of the USSR!

Updated: May 11

What do they teach there, in those high schools? The boy, whom the people called Dullo Daukas, really wanted to know. And do they also teach there that the earth is round? The boy could not find an answer. They laughed at him, and he could only dream of high schools.

But these little girls here? Who knows what they dream of. So far, it's fine. The teacher teaches at school, the coach - here. Parents, teachers, the whole society takes care that they go to school. The right to study is guaranteed by the Soviet state. Also in high schools.

Here is Ilze Liepiņa. Several years ago she traveled from Tukums to Riga, to a coach. She learned to swim well, became the Latvian champion. But the teacher Zeidaka knew how to teach her chemistry in such a way that Ilze decided to devote her life and work to it. And she came to high school, to the Faculty of Chemistry of the Latvian National University. Now she is a Lenin scholarship holder. And this month she has to defend her diploma thesis.

Also, Artūrs Sliede , a master of sports in weightlifting, also studies at this institute and still works in the optical laboratory. Studying, working, and sports—all three of these things have become part of the everyday life of a modern Soviet person.
