Sports Games Medals for Weightlifters

Yesterday, the final weightlifting competition of the Riga III Sports Games ended at the “Dinamo” sports hall. Unfortunately, several members of the republican national team did not participate, and therefore there were no records. Only former shot putter Arturs Sliede 2. In the heavyweight category, he tried to break the Latvian record in the snatch. However, in neither of the two attempts did he manage to lift the 180.5 kg bar.

In the lightweight category, the gold medal was won by soldier V. Aņikins, who lifted 292.5 kg in the triple. In the light lightweight category, the lifter J. Abrasovs won with 307.5 kg. The same result was achieved by the silver medalist A. Lukjanovs. In the lightweight category, the best total (335 kg) was achieved by the lifter A. Belušs. The results of the candidate masters were achieved by the first two winners in the light middleweight category - J. Baranovskis (ASK) 375 kg and D. Gurovs (aLokomotīven) 372.5 kg. In the middleweight category, the gold medal was won by soldier A. Nazarovs -. 377.5 kg. An excellent result was achieved by the lifter V. Bročs (435 kg), who won in the light heavyweight category. In the first heavyweight category, Master of Sports G. Kalns (VEF) lifted 425 kg, and in the heavyweight category -  A. Sliede lifted 435 kg .

In the team rankings, "Lokomotīve" came in first place in Group 2, and "Latvijas bērzs" in Group 3. In the district competition, the Oktyabrā district had the highest number of points.
