The achievements of Latvian weightlifters have recently attracted the attention of many authorities. With particular eagerly awaited their start at the Union Championship of the sports association "Dinamo", which was held in Feodosia on the Black Sea.

There were many good results, but first of all, it is necessary to note the first heavyweight athlete VALENTĪNS BROČS, who in the triathlon was the third of our athletes to exceed the international class limit — 500 kg, showing a result seven and a half kilograms higher. The absolute best performance that a Latvian weightlifter has ever been able to achieve, after these competitions, belongs to RPI student ARTURS SLIEDES. In the second heavyweight, he lifted 522.5 kg in the triathlon.  It is noteworthy that Artūrs lifted a phenomenal weight to his chest in the clean and jerk — 207.5 kg, but this time the judges could not record it according to all the rules .

In Feodosia, Latvian weightlifters, coached by our best coach M. Fraifelds, the teacher of the world record holders G. Ivančenko and K. Pumpuriņš , who did not compete this time, won five championship titles and set 11 Latvian records.
