Competing abroad

The Latvian weightlifting team is currently visiting Finland — first in Pori, where they live and work. Mexico City Olympic Champion in light heavyweight Karlo Kangasniemi. After that, our team will compete against the Finnish national team in Helsinki.

Our weightlifting team includes last year's World Champion and this year's European Champion Gennady Ivančenko, former world record holder Kārlis Pumpuriņš, Latvian absolute record holder (545 kg) Artūrs Sliede  and other well-known athletes.
