Although there are many achievements, there are still many shortcomings in youth athletics in our republic, especially in children's sports schools. In many schools, not a single second-class athlete was trained in 1959!

Coaches often replace the comprehensive, planned, and perspective training process with a forced one.

Comprehensive schools still contribute very little to the republic's athletics.

Physical education is neglected in many technical schools. But every year more and more young people will come to them. Technical schools are a good source of reserves, but so far neither the sports association "Daugava" nor the republican athletics federation have shown much interest in working in technical schools.
