These days, the new sports arena was filled with cheerful cheers and great activity. Athletes from the Kiev Construction Institute had come to visit our institute's track and field athletes to find out in friendly matches how the national teams were preparing for the 5th All-Union Student Sports Games.

Several summer results were shown during the competition. The achievement of Arturs Sliede, a student of the Faculty of Automatics and Computing, in the shot put was excellent - 16.66 m. This result is his personal record and the best achievement in indoor shot put in our republic.  Arturs is approaching the norm of a master of sports - only 34 cm more.

Our team had an excellent start, winning 12 first places out of 15 disciplines. The visiting athletes were better in the 50 m race for men, triple jump and high jump for women.

Our institute's track and field athletes won the team competition with a score of 152:100.
