UNIVERSITY COMPETITIONS

From May 10 to 13, a competition was held between eight universities of the republic to win the right to participate in the zonal competition, which will be held in the Estonian SSR. The students of the LVFK Institute turned out to be the best, they scored 46,630 points.

2nd place RPI with 38,540 points

3rd place LLA with 35,432 points

4th place RMI with 24,624 points

In 5th place is LVU with 23,933 points.

It should be noted that our team fought for every point with great perseverance. However, the actions of Andris Arums, a sixth-year student at the Faculty of Civil Engineering, are unforgivable, because when he did not show up for the start in the decathlon, the team lost a safe 4,000 points.

The title of champion of the university Spartakiad was won by: Renāte Lāce (Chemistry Faculty) in the pentathlon with 4364 points, Romualds Raģells (Civil Engineering Faculty) — in the long jump (6.47 m), Andris Plezers (Mechanical Engineering Faculty) — 400 m — 52.0 and 800 m — 1;57.0, Atis Toms (Electrical Power Engineering Faculty) — 1500 m — 4:02.2 Lauma Briedē (Chemistry Faculty) — in the discus throw 35.77 m., Janīna Brūvere (Chemistry Faculty) — in the shot put 10.80 m, Renāte Lāce (Chemistry Faculty) — in the 80 m hurdles 11.5. Edvīns Upacieris (Electrical Power Engineering Faculty) — in the javelin throw 3.90 m. It should also be noted that Edvīnas had an excellent start in the decathlon, where he cleared 4 meters in the pole vault (this result corresponds to the so-called sports class). 

Once again, Arturs Sliede, a first-year student at the Faculty of Automation, surpassed the first sports class in the shot put. This time, his result was 15.10 m.

At the end of May, our track and field team will travel to Jelgava, where competitions will take place between four universities — LLA, RMI, LVU, and RPI. This will also be the last competition before the exam session.
