In the first of this year's largest indoor athletics events, Riga City Indoor Athletics Competitions, several athletes from the republican national team from the districts also participated in addition to Riga residents. Of the throwing disciplines, only the shot put was in the competition program. Here, the best result was achieved by Artūrs Sliede  with 16.32 m. It seems that he has every chance to improve the republican record this year.

The team competition was held between teams of sports associations. The first winner was «Daugava», leaving behind ASK and «Dinamo». The management of the sports association «Lokomotive» should be criticized, which did not register any participants. Is this association really not a second-class track and field athlete?
