Riga Track & Field Championships: Medals Distributed

Yesterday, autumn weather prevailed in Riga again. It was already very dark when the last 1500 m runners finished. The judges counted the points for the teams. In the first group, RPI students were in the leading position all the time (the women alone scored 243.5 points). Adding up the other points, it turned out that VEF men scored a large number of points (381.5). In the overall standings, VEF track and field athletes passed the RPI team by one point at the last moment! Riga Industrial Polytechnicum won the second group very convincingly.

Yesterday, the shot putters achieved remarkable results. The Riga champion title was won by Valdis Ceriņš from Veļas – 16.82 m, the second was E. Kārkliņš (Riga Food Industry Technology Technical School) – 16.71 m. Ceriņš's result is the second best ever in the republic, while Kārkliņš's performance is the third. Last year's republic champion Arturs Sliede  (RPI) remained in third place (16.04 m). 

The javelin throw was won by Jānis Doniņš (LVFKI) - 73.46 m, second was Z. Graudulis (Riga Apparatus Building Plant) - 71.74 m, third - V. Feldmanis (DR) with 69.20 m.
