Saying Goodbye to Age 18...
A few more days, and Artūrs Sliede will be 19 years old. He competed in the shot put outside the competition the day before yesterday. There were a lot of rural youth who watched how the 6 kg shot put flew 16m 56cm from the hands of the republic's youth record holder. No, Artūrs had not come to the "Dinamo" stadium in vain - he said goodbye to 18 years of age with a new Latvian SSR youth record .
The best shot put students this time were: Eduards Kārkliņš (15,16) from Liepaja, P. Rasimovičs (Lēnin district) and K. Māziņš (Valmiera).
