Two New Records

Yesterday in Tukums, several very good achievements were shown in track and field at the school youth test competitions. 15-year-old Kuldīga Secondary School student Spodra Riekstiņa pushed a 4 kg shot put 12.83 m away. This is a new republican record for young women. The previous record (12.61 m) belonged to student G. Nozdračeva since 1955. The second record was set by Riga Secondary School 2 student Artūrs Sliede in the 5 kg shot put in the boys' group - 15.87 m. He also won the 6 kg shot put with a very good result - 14.29 m. 

In the 110 m hurdles and 200 m, Baldoni's Einis won with 16.3 and 24.4. In the high jump for young people, Ratnieks (Tukums) took 1st place with 1.75 m, and for young women, Taškina (Cēsis) - 1.50 m. In the javelin throw for young people, another victory was won by G. Grīnbergs from Talsi - 54.42 m, and for young women, G. Siliņa (Riga) - 39.08 m. Renāte Lāce won a double victory - she was first in the 200 m (27.7) and 80 m hurdles (12.6).
